Busan Metropolitan City Infectious Disease Newsletter December 2025 Heating and Washing are the Basic! Let’s Prevent Norovirus Infection in Winter What is ‘norovirus infection’? It mainly occurs from late fall to early spring. It is so highly contagious that even a small amount of virus can cause infection. Infection occurs mainly through consumption of contaminated water or food. Heating Drinking boiled water Eating thoroughly cooked food (heating at 85℃ or higher for more than 1 minute) Washing Washing your hands with soap in running water for at least 30 seconds Eating vegetable and/or fruits after washing with clean water Using cooking utensils respectively according to their intended use What if somebody becomes a patient? Disinfect the surface of items that are used frequently. Close the toilet lid and flush after defecation Do not cook anything when you vomit or have diarrhea symptoms.
